On a bus designed to carry standing passengers, no passengers may stand in front of the rear of the driver's seat. Any such bus must have a line on the floor, or some other marking, that indicates where passengers may not stand. This is called a standee line.

If the road appears to be wet but the wheels of other vehicles are no longer generating spray, ice has formed on the road. Drive with extra caution when operating on wet or icy roads.

Anti-Lock Braking Systems (ABS) will help you to maintain control during hard braking. ABS will not necessarily shorten your stopping distance.

Regularly check mirrors on both sides of your vehicle while driving. It is important to be aware of what is happening behind and to the sides of your vehicle.

Look at your truck's gauges when starting the engine. The oil pressure in an engine should come up to a normal level within seconds of the vehicle's engine being started.

There are two indicators that determine when you need to shift into a higher gear. One indicator is the engine speed (rpm). You should read your vehicle's manual to learn its rpm range and shift up when you reach the top of that range. The other indicator is road speed (mph). You should learn which speeds each gear can accommodate, then keep an eye on the speedometer and shift up as needed.

When driving, you should continually scan the road for possible hazards. Form plans about what you will do if the hazards develop into emergencies.

A vehicle's headlights should be clean during trips. This will ensure that the lights can provide as much light as possible, helping the vehicle to be seen.
