A vehicle being equipped with anti-lock brakes on only the tractor or only the trailer provides additional control during braking.

The stab braking method for emergency stops involves fully applying the brakes until they lock up. The brakes are then released until the wheels start rolling, and then the process is repeated.

When turning on your vehicle's engine, the lights on the dash should come on and then turn off. If the ABS malfunction light stays on, the system is not working properly. In the case of a truck with a trailer, if the yellow light on the left rear of the trailer stays on once the engine has been started, the system is not working properly.

Keep weight distribution in mind when loading cargo into a trailer or tank. When loading a tank that is divided by bulkheads into multiple smaller tanks, you should not place too much weight in the front or rear of the tank.

Warning signs that a driver may be impaired include that they are having trouble staying in their lane, they are having trouble maintaining an appropriate driving speed, or they are stopping without a clear reason.
